Background and Qualifications

My Ph.D. is in social psychology (University of Nevada at Reno, 1984) and I am a full professor in the Department of Psychological Science at Ball State University. I have been an active researcher (Principle Investigator) whose work has been supported by grants from a variety of agencies (e.g., National Science Foundation) and published in a variety of top-tier journals (e.g., Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, Cognitive Psychology). My primary research program examines the social cognitive variables involved in language comprehension. Some of my current research in this domain examines comprehension deficits in Parkinson's Disease and the lateralization of speaker meaning. I also conduct research on gambling, and personality and information processing. I teach courses in advanced statistics and research methods, as well as graduate and undergraduate courses in psychology of language and personality.
